strangers in the box

COME, LOOK WITH ME INSIDE THIS DRAWER IN THIS BOX I'VE OFTEN SEEN,
AT THE PICTURES, BLACK AND WHITE FACES PROUD, STILL, SERENE.

I WISH I KNEW THE PEOPLE THESE STRANGERS IN THE BOX,
THEIR NAMES AND ALL THEIR MEMORIES ARE LOST AMONG MY SOCKS.
I WONDER WHAT THEIR LIVES WERE LIKE HOW DID THEY SPEND THEIR DAYS?
WHAT ABOUT THEIR SPECIAL TIMES?
I'LL NEVER KNOW THEIR WAYS.

IF ONLY SOMEONE HAD TAKEN TIME TO TELL WHO, WHAT, OR WHEN,
THESE FACES OF MY HERITAGE WOULD COME TO LIFE AGAIN.
COULD THIS BECOME THE FATE OF PICTURES WE TAKE TODAY?
THE FACES AND MEMORIES SOMEDAY TO BE PASSED AWAY?

MAKE TIME TO SAVE YOUR STORIES SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY WHEN IT KNOCKS,
OR SOMEDAY YOU AND YOURS COULD BE THE STRANGERS IN THE BOX.

Summer hours.....

... beginning July 1st we will be operating under our SUMMER hours.

SUMMER HOURS ARE...
open:
Tuesday thru Saturday
11:00am to 6:00pm
closed:
Sunday & Monday

please make note of this change.
regular hours return September 2008.

PS. please feel free to compliment us on our choice to implement Summer operating hours. this benefits us in that we will have time to refresh and recoup after a busy week. it also benefits our valued customer, in that we will have time to create and plan inspiring projects, classes & events and we are doing our part in living green by limiting our global footprint put out from our air conditioner this Summer!! we hope you will not find it necessary to complain to us about this change. much thought and care went into this decision. we are doing our very best to maintain an independent source for your scrapbooking, crafting and gift needs. we did not make this change without complete and thorough research and did not be any means make this choice to tick anyone off.
thank you for your understanding and continued support,

independents week

the week of July 1-7 is Independents Week!
please help us celebrate!!!

what is Independents Week you may ask????

During the first week in July as we honor our national heritage and liberty, we also celebrate our nation's locally-owned independent businesses who have given so many citizens opportunity and underpinned and underwritten community life and prosperity. It's a time, too, to consider the independent decision-making ability each of us possesses to choose the future look and feel of the place we make our home.

Think of your favorite shop or restaurant. We'll bet it's a
home town business. Independent locally-owned businesses are essential to a vital local economy and community character. They use the goods and services of other local businesses, serve as community hubs, and are vital components of healthy neighborhoods and strong city centers. They're where the locals go. They're owned by our friends and neighbors, or maybe even by you.

The threat to our communities is real. The trend of increasing recruitment of and dependence on absentee-owned chains -- with formulas dictating everything from the look of the building to who does the printing to where the money gets deposited -- has unhealthy consequences. It's not just local businesses who suffer -- our communities are losing social, cultural and economic strength, a place for entrepreneurship, and the ability to choose our own futures.

Use Independents Week to explore your community's independently-owned businesses see how much of your purchasing for that week you can do with them. You'll keep your money circulating in your community three times as long or more than spending it at chains where it leaves immediately for somewhere else. Every dollar you spend at a locally-owned business helps your community in many ways.
Get to know your neighbors. . .and help celebrate our Independents!

sincerely,
denise
